Hundreds of Sea Eagles (Steller’s Sea Eagle and White-tailed Eagle) come to Rausu from the north. Rausu is very famous as the place where people can take pictures of Sea Eagles on the drift ice. If you join the cruise, you will see amazing scenery!!
Whale & Bird watching Cruise (End of Apr – Mid of Oct)
You will have a chance to see whales and sea birds. Melting drift ice makes Nemuro Straits a very fertile sea. Many animals come to Rausu to look for their food.

Killer whales, Minke whales, Dall’s porpoises, Short-tailed shearwaters and so on.
There is no other place in Japan where you can meet more Killer whales than Rausu.
<Summer & Autumn -Aug to Oct->
Sperm whales, Dall’s porpoises, Baird’s beaked whales, Northern fulmars and so on.
The Sperm whale is the largest toothed whale, with adult males measuring up to 18 meters long. Rausu is famous as the place where people can see male Sperm whales.
